Which faults are common on Baxi boilers?
Baxi is a long-established British boiler brand, and its combis and system boilers are found in homes of every age across Birmingham, from back-boiler-era terraces to new estates. The faults owners see most often fall into a handful of groups.
Low pressure. A sealed system that drops below its minimum pressure stops the boiler. On Duo-tec, EcoBlue, Platinum and Assure models that shows as E118; on the newer Combi 2 range it shows as H.02.07. Topping up through the filling loop usually restarts it. If you are topping up every week or two, look for a leak. See boiler losing pressure.
Ignition and flame faults. E133 is the code Baxi owners search for most. Baxi’s own table calls it a gas supply fault, and the checks start with the gas supply itself, the power and the electrodes. A prepayment meter out of credit and a frozen condensate pipe are both common causes. Our E133 guide covers each step.
Circulation and overheat faults. E110 and E125 both relate to water not moving properly through the boiler. Air, sludge, a stuck pump or closed valves are the usual causes. Bleeding radiators and checking the pressure is a sensible first step.
Fan faults. E160 points at the fan, which must be checked and replaced by an engineer.
Servicing a Baxi boiler
A yearly service by a Gas Safe registered engineer checks combustion, the flue, the condensate trap and the electrodes. It is usually a condition of Baxi’s guarantee, so keep the record safe. See boiler servicing.
Under guarantee?
If your Baxi is still within its manufacturer guarantee, contact Baxi before booking a repair, as an outside repair may affect it. Out of guarantee, send us an enquiry and we arrange a local engineer who will diagnose the fault and give a price before any work starts.
When should you get an engineer?
After one reset, if the same code returns. Also straight away if water is leaking from inside the casing, the boiler is making loud bangs, or you smell gas. When you send an enquiry, include the full code exactly as it appears, the model name and whether it is a combi or system boiler.
